Production of fuel briquettes from esparto partially pyrolyzed

چکیده
The aim of this study is to prepare a solid fuel from the most abundant biomass of Morocco that can be used by the local population, and in particular by the rural ones, instead of the wood of forest, which is less available and its exploitation is negative for the environment. Esparto is the most available biomass, with a production of 560000 tons annually of dry matter approximately. However, briquettes of esparto have low calorific power and their mechanical properties are bad. To improve the quality of the briquettes and to have an economically competitive product at the same time, the esparto was partially pyrolyzed at temperatures between 160 C and 400 C, and the pressure of densification has been examined. The combustion profile of the samples has been studied by applying the derivative thermogravimetry technique, and the mechanical properties of the briquettes were tested to evaluate the impact resistance and water resistance. This study showed that strong briquettes can be obtained with a higher calorific value when the esparto is partially pyrolyzed, and a relatively elevated densification pressure is applied. 2004 Elsevier Ltd. Combustion Analysis of Various Combinations of Fuel Briquettes and Fabrication of Fuel Briquetting Machine
Biomass Briquetting is the process of converting low bulk density agro waste into high density fuel, by the process of mass densification. It is a type of Solid Waste Management by reducing the volume of solid waste mass sent to land-fills, where it is presently burnt or buried without proper care. These are good replacements for conventional cooking fuels, economical and eco-friendly and utili...
متن کاملLow Pressure Binder-Less Densification of Fibrous Biomass Material using a Screw Press
In this study, the theoretical relationship between pressure and density was investigated on cylindrical hollow fuel briquettes produced of a mixture of fibrous biomass material using a screw press without any chemical binder. The fuel briquettes were made of biomass and other waste material such as spent coffee beans, mielie husks, saw dust and coal fines under pressures of 0.878-2.2 Mega Pasc...
متن کاملCharacterization and Production of Fuel Briquettes Made from Biomass and Plastic Wastes
In this study, the physical properties of briquettes produced from two different biomass feedstocks (sawdust and date palm trunk) and different plastic wastes, without using any external binding agent, were investigated. The biomass feedstocks were blended with different ratios of two waste from electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) plastics (halogen-free wire and printed circuit boards (P...

Beehive charcoal briquettes were produced from powdered charcoal in which soil was added as binder. It was found to be an eco-friendly, clean and economic alternative source of household fuel for the people of Eastern Himalayan Region. Experiments were conducted to determine natural drying behaviour, normalised burn rate, temperature profile and emission of CO, CO2, UBHC (unburnt hydrocarbons) ...
متن کاملN,P-Codoped Carbon Networks as Efficient Metal-free Bifunctional Catalysts for Oxygen Reduction and Hydrogen Evolution Reactions.
The high cost and scarcity of noble metal catalysts, such as Pt, have hindered the hydrogen production from electrochemical water splitting, the oxygen reduction in fuel cells and batteries. Herein, we developed a simple template-free approach to three-dimensional porous carbon networks codoped with nitrogen and phosphorus by pyrolysis of a supermolecular aggregate of self-assembled melamine, p...
